In a joint statement, Mr Wallace and the competition’s art committee announced they will be leaving the judging process open ended due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have always operated with transparency and integrity and have produced multiple Grand Archibald prizes over the years and have consistently reviewed our judging process and in recent years have also provided detailed feedback to our art committees,” the statement said.
“This is the first time we have ever done this and we have weighed up carefully all the considerations we need to take into account in making this decision and have come to a decision based on this.
“We strongly feel that this decision is in the best interests of our art community and we have confidence that we are giving maximum
